Hello, welcome
to the Drumriach weather site
Drumriach is situated in the parish of Leochel-Cushnie, roughly 6 miles South West of Alford in Aberdeenshire.
Leochel (pronounced locally as Lochell) is derived from the Pictish "Leanch-Choill" meaning Elm wood and Cushnie comes from "Cois" meaning foot so Cushnie means foot of hill.
There were at one time two parishes, Cushnie and Leochel, they were I believe unofficially united around 1620 but became officially one in 1796 when Leochel-Cushnie church was built.
Parishes are no longer administrative units so up to date information on the Parish is not available. Historical information on the parish can be found Here
